Brit signed to establish Jewish high school supplemental education program
The St. Paul Jewish community is working to establish a new 8-12th grade communal supplemental education program. In an agreement to move forward, leadership of Beth Jacob Congregation, Mount Zion Temple, Temple of Aaron, Talmud Torah of St. Paul and the Jewish Federation of Greater St. Paul have signed a Brit (covenant) formalizing their commitment to the project.
The creation of this educational program stems from the strategic priority to Strengthen Jewish Education. A panel of lay and professional leaders, tasked with finding and implementing effective
educational models for today's world, recommended a communal program that would be more robust than what current high school programs offer alone.
In creating the program, community leaders committed to develop an educational platform that is inclusive of all the needs of our youth and continues to meet future needs, and to respect divergent understandings of Judaism and different ways of living a committed and authentic Jewish life.
The next step is to form a task force to develop the educational initiative. They will work toward establishing a supplemental high school program, hoping to open in September 2018.
